Steven Hanes, a 66 year old resident of Daviess County Nursing and Rehab and former Trenton resident, passed away at 8:32 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026 at North Care Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
He is to be cremated under the direction of Slater Neal Funeral Home of Trenton. A celebration of life will be held April 6, 2026 at 2 pm at the Union Baptist Church (Coon Creek). Memorial donations are suggested to Daviess County Nursing and Rehab Activities Fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Steven Ray Hanes was born July 19, 1959 in Trenton to Vernon and Betty (Wise) Hanes Siemer. He graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1977. Steve married Diane Tate after high school and they were the parents of two children, Whitney and Hunter. Steve worked on the family farm as a child and was employed with several farming operations in the Midwest as a young adult. Steve’s worked for MFA Oil doing propane delivery before his health forced him to stop. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and old westerns. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved doing anything outdoors, especially camping with his children when they were young.
Surviving relatives include his son Hunter Hanes and wife Haley of Galt, daughter Whitney Hanes and significant other Blake Barber of Prairieville, LA, sister Joyce Eads of Coffey, MO, and grandchildren Boone and Tatum Hanes, and Brayden Barber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Mark Hanes.
